AfterShip Email lets you recommend products on different pages of your store. But it is crucial to understand all the product recommendation types and choose the one according to your requirements. This help guide will help you understand how each product recommendation type works.

How many product recommendation types do AfterShip Email support



There are 4 different product recommendation types you can choose from while setting up your recommendation campaign:

1. Best sellers


If you want to show your top-selling products, this is the type you need to choose. Please note that products that have been sold in the last 30 days will be considered your best-selling products, and they will be ranked based on their sales volume.

Note: We won't recommend products as bestselling that store visitors have purchased in the last 60 days because there's a high possibility they won't buy those products again after such a short time.

Question 1: How do we identify the bestselling products?
Solution: We take the order history of the last 30 days into consideration to identify the bestselling products.

Question 2: Will out-of-stock products be considered as well?
Solution: No, if some of your top-selling products are not in stock, we won’t recommend them. Only in-stock items will be considered for recommendations.

Question 3: How much time does AfterShip Email take to update the data on its dashboard?
Solution: To show you accurate data, we monitor the performance of your product recommendation campaign and update the data the next day.

Question 4: What will happen if my store visitor has already purchased my top-selling products?
Solution: In this case, our fallback logic will be triggered and recommend trending items. In case trending items are also not available or have already been purchased, we will hide the recommendation widget.

Trending products are the ones that have been viewed most on your store in the last 24 hours.
2. Recently viewed


If you want to recommend products that store visitors have viewed recently, you can go with this type. It will show products that have been checked in the last 60 days, and they will be ranked according to the last time they were viewed.

Question 1: How do we identify the recently viewed products?
Solution: We take the product browsing history of the last 60 days into consideration to identify the recently viewed products.

Question 2: Will out-of-stock products be considered as well?
Solution: No, if some recently viewed products are not in stock, we won’t recommend them. Only in-stock items will be considered for recommendations.

Question 3: How much time does AfterShip Email take to update the data on its dashboard?
Solution: We update the data regarding your product recommendation campaign in real-time.

Question 4: What will happen if my store visitor has already purchased the recently viewed products?
Solution: In this case, our fallback logic will be triggered and recommend trending items. In case trending items are also not available or have already been purchased, we will hide the recommendation widget.

3. Frequently bought together


If you want to recommend products that compliment the items that shoppers are checking out on your store or have purchased in the last 180 days, this type is for you.

Solution: We take the order history of the last 180 days into consideration to identify the frequently bought products.

Question 2: Will out-of-stock products be considered as well?
Solution: No, if frequently purchased products are not in stock, we won’t recommend them. Only in-stock items will be considered for recommendations.
