How to Send Back-in-Stock Emails

Plan: Premium, Enterprise Platform: Shopify

Overview

Missing out on your favourite product is always disheartening, especially when you can get it at its lowest price. Well, this generally happens during festive sales or peak seasons when discounts and offers are in full force. It is a bitter pill to swallow for online store owners because they have to bear the loss of the stockouted sales and decreased customer retention and loyalty.

AfterShip Email enables you to send automated back in stock emails so interested shoppers can buy their favorite item as soon as it is available for sale.

Things to consider

A back-in-stock email will be triggered as soon as the products are available for sale again.
A back-in-stock email will only contain one product. In case your store visitor adds multiple products to the cart, and they go out of stock before the checkout then he/she will receive multiple back-in-stock emails, depending on how many products were added to the cart.

Steps to set up a back-in-stock email

Flow settings

Go to Emails and SMS in your AfterShip Email admin.
Go to Flows > Back in stock > Get started

You will land on the email flow editor. Configure the following settings that will trigger this email flow.

a. Status: Enable the status to activate the back-in-stock email flow
b. Flow name: Input the name of the flow for easy identification in case you are about to set up multiple flows around the back-in-stock scenario
c. Subscription button and popup: The back-in-stock email will be delivered to the inboxes of those shoppers who have subscribed for the notification. So, customize the subscription button and popup to let shoppers subscribe effortlessly.

Subscription button: Enter content for the text and description of the button if you are not satisfied with the default one. Also, define the color for the text, description, and button background.

Button code: There's no need to use the button code unless you’ve got an incompatible Shopify theme installed. Click Copy code to copy the code to the clipboard.

Go to your Shopify store’s Themes section
Click the Customize button. Choose the page to which you want to add the button
Tap on the Add section. Choose the Custom content option
Click on Add block. Select Custom HTML. Paste your button code
Hit the Save button.

Subscription popup: Enter the content for your popup header, description, button text, and success step text. Also, define the colors of the text and background.

d. Logic: Under the Logic section, you’ll see two blocks Conditional split and Random split

Conditional split: Conditional splits are the general conditions and will split into Yes and No paths

Random split: This lets you randomly split your recipients into two groups (A and B) so that you can send different notifications

e. Time delay: In the Timing section, you get the Time delay block. It comes in handy when you don’t want two actions to take place back-to-back or if you want to put some time in between steps

f. In the Actions section, you get Send email and Send SMS blocks. Since we are following the email flow, you will see the Send email action in the flow by default.

Customize email template

To customize the messaging, look, and appearance of the back-in-stock email, click the Send email block. You will be taken to the email editor where you can edit the general email Settings,
Content, and Style.
