How to Show Best-Selling Products and Recently Viewed Items in Emails and Popups

Emails and popups play a significant role when it comes to marketing. They just show to the point information so that prospects make a quick purchase decision if they find any product attractive and value for money.

With Automizely Marketing, you can add hot-selling products as recommendations in your emails and popups. Let's check the steps:

Products that you've sold in the last 30 days will be considered as hot-selling products. Similarly, items that have been checked out in the last 30 days will be shown as recently viewed products.

➡️ Steps to show top-selling and recently viewed products in emails

👉 For showing top-selling products in emails

Go to the ‘Emails’ section of your Automizely Marketing account and select any of your emails

Switch to the ‘Content’ tab and click on ‘Add blocks’

Select ‘Recommended products’ > In ‘Type’ section, ‘Best sellers’ will be selected by default, so just decide how many columns and products you’re willing to show

Note: You can show maximum 24 products, while minimum limit is 1.


Now, set the remaining sections as per your preference and also make changes in other tabs (Settings and Styles)

Once done, click on ‘Save’ to finish the process

👉 For showing recently viewed products in emails

You just need to select the ‘Recently viewed’ option instead of ‘Best sellers’. The rest of the steps are the same as explained above.

Note: If you want to show recently viewed products in a newsletter, you can show up to 12 items. In the case of automated emails (welcome, birthday, order follow-up, etc.), you can show up to 24 products as recommendations.

➡️ Steps to show top-selling and recently viewed products in popups

Always remember that best-selling products can only be shown in upsell popups. The same goes for the recently viewed items. Three products (max) you can show in your popup.

👉 For showing top-selling products in popups

Go to ‘Popups & forms’ section of your Automizely Marketing account > Tap on ‘Create new form campaign’

Choose any of the given upsell popup templates > Click on ‘Create’


In ‘Recommended products’ section of the ‘Popup settings’ tab, ‘Best sellers’ will be selected by default, so just set the remaining sections as per your preference and also make changes in other tabs (Text and Style)


Once done, click on ‘Save’ and then 'Publish' your popup

👉 For showing recently viewed products in popups

You just need to select the ‘Recently viewed’ option instead of ‘Best sellers’. The rest of the steps are the same as explained above.

In case you drop yourself a test email, you’ll see the sample data in the recommendation section instead of the real one

The order data gets updated after 1 day

🤔 How do best-selling products/recently viewed items get selected?

➡️ The logic of selecting best-selling products is:

Products that have been purchased in the last 30 days will be displayed in the descending order of sales. Items that were purchased earlier this period won't be considered

If you’ve not received any order in the last 30 days, random products will be shown in recommendations

In case the shopper has already purchased all your best-selling products, random items will be displayed

In the event of no active products available on your store, the 'Hot Sale' section won’t be shown

If the shopper has already bought any product that falls under the best-selling category, he/she won’t see it as a recommendation. Instead, the other top-selling product in line will be displayed in the place of that product ✌️

➡️ The logic of selecting recently viewed products is:

Products that were viewed at the earliest and in the last 30 days will get the first priority. Thus, recently viewed products will be sorted from newest to oldest

If none of your products has view history, top-selling products will be shown

In the event of no active products available on your store, the 'Recently viewed' section won’t be shown
